Debut Previews: Lincoln Continental spied, Hyundai Ioniq

Lincoln Continental Concept
Lincoln, Ford's not-so-luxury brand, is looking to shave its dowdy image and has been well on its way with recent debuts of the MKC and MKX sport utility vehicles. However, nothing qualifies you more as a bonafide luxury automaker than a true flagship vehicle. Currently filling that void is the Lincoln MKS, and it certainly does not give the brand the halo that it needs. Enter the new Lincoln Continental... Wednesday, August 31, 2011 Test Drives 2012 Volkswagen Passat TDI

2012 Volkswagen Passat
So everyone knows the saying, "you get what you pay for." This mainly holds true and is usually a saying that you can live by as a consumer. In reality, this saying does not always hold true in the automotive industry and more money does not necessarily mean more quality, more features, or better customer service. I guess I should get to my point, right? I had the privilege of test-driving a 2012 Volkswagen Passat TDI at a local Northern Virginia VW dealer. The new Passat does not go on sale until late September, or early October. My roughly 20 minute test drive revealed a refreshingly refined car with solidity, stability, and capability that belied its price. Was I impressed? For sure!! Read more below...

Will this redesign be good enough for Nissan to keep the Altima in the mid-size race? Read more below...

2012 Toyota Camry Rises to the Occasion

2012 Toyota Camry XLE
The curtain has been pulled back, and out comes the 2012 Toyota Camry. For long, a predictable car that shuns expressive styling, the 2012 version does not disappoint Camry followers that swear by the car's consistent strengths of reliability, user-friendliness, and safety, as opposed to its style. So here it is...but is it enough to shake up things in the midsize car class and rise to the top again?...

2012 Mercedes ML-Class Official Photos Released

2012 Mercedes ML-Class
It can be said of Mercedes-Benz that they rarely miss the mark when redesigning their vehicles. Their most recently redesigned models include the E-Class premium sedan, the SLK roadster, and the CLS-Class 4-door luxury coupe. All of these models are tasteful evolutions of their predecessors and do well to maintain Mercedes' position of designing vehicles that are timeless and not overstyled. Thankfully, it seems that they have pulled it off again with the 2012 ML-Class that will be released in the fall of 2011. Read more...

Infiniti To Debut 2013 JX Crossover Vehicle

2013 Infiniti JX Crossover Spy Shot

Anytime your name can be confused with other things, you probably have not made a strong enough brand for yourself yet. Nissan's luxury brand, Infiniti, has this problem. Often spelled "Infinity", like the audio company or the number of endlessness, Infiniti has steadily made progress to become a luxury brand on the same tier as Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW since the brand debuted in the U.S. some 22 years ago. Their next effort to take on the competition calls forth the introduction of a core vehicle, the new 7-seater CUV (crossover utility vehicle), which it will dub the Infiniti JX. Although not to be revealed until August in concept car form, the JX has been spied as seen above. Read more...

2012 Volkswagen Beetle Revealed

2012 Volkswagen Beetle
Ok, so what the Volkswagen Beetle hasn't been redesigned since 1998. You can't even blame VW for not overhauling the Beetle after all these years. I mean, what can you do with a design that is as distinguishable as the Beetle, without taking anything away from its character? Well apparently...a whole lot. The new for 2012 Volkswagen Beetle has turned out to be a stunner in its own right. Take a look below...

Small or Nothing: Compact Car Comparison

From Left to Right: Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze, Volkswagen Jetta
Mazda 3, Ford Focus
Small is back with a vengeance like high gas prices. The two seem to come hand in, and rightfully so. The compact car segment, which is wedged between the basic subcompact (or B) segment and the loftier mid-size vehicle (or D) segment, is a burgeoning market and is currently among the hottest auto segments right now. With the price of gas shooting higher, consumers are yet again running back to vehicles that offer the least compromises and the best fuel economy. Many look no further than compact cars, which are now equipped with luxury features and are more driver-oriented than ever. Car and Driver has tested a set of five, four of which are all-new for 2011 or 2012, and one is a class favorite that was redesigned less than two years ago. The compact car comparison that America has been waiting for pitted the Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Elantra, Ford Focus, Mazda 3, and Chevrolet Cruze against each other. Let's check out how the cookie crumbled.

Lexus Previews 2012/2013 GS-Series with LF-Gh Concept (Video Included)

Lexus LF-Gh Concept Vehicle
Previews Next-Generation Lexus GS-Series
To the Lexus enthusiast or follower, the following is a Mr. Obvious statement. Believe it or not, Lexus still sells the GS-Series (the GS350, GS450h, and GS460) luxury-sport sedans. Unfortunately for Toyota's luxury arm, sales of Lexus' once popular GS have dwindled to a trickle with only 1,103 units selling through March of 2011, down 34.5% from last year's already tanking sales and ranking last in sales among its competitors. Lexus hopes to change all of that by early 2012, as the next generation GS bows. But in the meantime, Lexus will be whetting our appetite at the New York Auto Show with a preview of the new GS, by way of the LF-Gh concept vehicle.

Consumer Reports Exalts Elantra, Jeers Jetta

2011 Hyundai Elantra
Consumer Reports tested the all-new Hyundai Elantra, Chevy Cruze, and Volkswagen Jetta for its May 2011 issue. After the dust cleared, the Elantra emerged as the clear winner, not just of the group but of the entire compact car segment. On the other hand, Volkswagen's new Jetta scored poorly and actually worse than the last generation--unfortunate for the automaker as it has attempted to make the car more widely appealing.

More 2012 Tiida/Versa Pictures from China?

Also known as the Tiida in overseas markets, the hatchback has been spied in China before its debut. However, there is a little confusion with where Nissan plans to go with the new Versa. In the current generation, the Tiida is only slightly refaced with just a few trim adjustments as our Versa. But according to a sketch released by Nissan, the new Sunny subcompact in China looks to be the basis for the new Versa. Confused? We are too, but let the pictures tell the story and why this little car is so important to the American public...

2011 Ford Explorer Ranks Last in Comparison Test

The crossover segment is among the fastest growing automobile segments, as consumers continue to move away from minivans, SUVs, and full-size sedans to snatch up these vehicles. Many sport utility vehicles (SUVs) that were once based on truck platforms, now have more car-based, unibody platforms and hence become what the auto world deems as a "crossover" vehicle. MotorTrend has tested a six set of 3-row crossovers. They include the Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Traverse, Dodge Durango, and Toyota Highlander. Two of the bunch, the Ford Explorer and Dodge Durango, have just been overhauled with their 2011 introductions. Click below to see how they compared to the other contenders in the group...

Everyone's Asking "Where is the Green?"

2011 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Ever been around an elderly individual who has said something along the lines of..."These kids today...all they want is money! They're spoiled and they think that they are entitled to everything..."? Well, it is somewhat true. Many 30-somethings and under love and live for the "green." We work hard to get lots of it, and those that don't, still expect it to be given over like an older sibling's hand-me-downs. However, that's not the only "green" that today's next top fill-in-the-blank wants. The American consumer is increasingly favoring green technology in its vehicles, and automakers are pulling out all stops to make sure that the consumer is getting what he/she wants. The availability of vehicles with green technologies that improve fuel mileage and contain environmentally-friendly materials is booming and there seems to be no end in sight. Gone are the days where every car shopper wants a gas-guzzling sports car, SUV, or truck. Quite frankly, with the national average gas price eclipsing $3.50 a gallon, nowadays every auto consumer is asking, "Where is the green?"

Porsche To Build Cajun Small SUV

Porsche Headquarters; Stuttgart, Germany
Once an automaker of strictly all things sports coupe, Porsche continues to expand its horizons. With the success of the 4-door Panamera and Cayenne SUV, which happen to now be the brand's best-selling vehicles, Porsche is looking to venture into uncharted territory yet again. This week, the German automaker confirmed that is going to build a new small SUV--likely to be called the Cajun. Has Porsche lost it for real this time?
